Surnames: DORRIS LEDFORD
Submitter: Rod PENNINGTON (rodpenn@iquest.net)
Date: 11 Nov 2001

The Solomon LEDFORD family is found in Saline Co., IL from the very beginning of the county. The DORRIS family is also prominent, and intermarried with the LEDFORDs. I couple of years ago I saw records that appeared to show that Solomon LEDFORD and various members of the DORRIS family were in Robertson Co., TN in 1806. Are there any LEDFORD or DORRIS researchers out there who would know anything about this? The records are in "Robertson Co., TN-Court Minutes, 1796-1807", by Carol Wells, Heritage Books, Inc., 1993. Here are the mentions: **Solomon LEDFORD allowed $1.50 for work on jaol as per account filed (5 Feb 1806). **State vs. Solomon LEDFORD-Affray. Defendant submits, fined $5.00 and costs (7 Aug 1806). **Isaac DORRIS appt. constable, bond $620.00, Wm. DORRIS and Bazel BORREN securities (6 Aug 1806). **"State Vs. James G. HEARD", mentions Joseph DORRIS, Esq. and also mentions Solomon LEDFORD on the jury (6 Nov 1806). **"State vs. Joshua SMITH", jury includes Joseph DORRIS and Solomon LEDFORD (6 Nov 1806). Seems like I saw a website somewhere which showed that Isaac and William DORRIS in Robertson Co., TN are close kin to the DORRIS's in Saline Co., IL. Any comments welcome!! Rod

I am looking for information on my great grandmother. She was murdered by her son Sylvester Denton in Eldorado, Ill. Sylvester murdered her and his sister. I know that her name was Ida, but I do not know what her last name was at the time that she was killed as she had been married many times. I do not know what year the murders occured but it was after 1907. I believe Sylvester got out of prison in 1966 because that is the year that he returned to Hopkinsville,Ky. I am searching for information of my Grandfather's daughter, her name was Myrtle, although she was referred to by the family as "Mertie".I never knew about Myrtie until recently. when I saw her name in a Family Bible. In 1910 she was enumerated on the US Census as living with her father and step-mother,in Crouch Twp., Hamilton Co., IL. Although I found her married to a Richard Holland of Benton abt, 1905, and I believe there was a child from this marriage named "Myrtle Garnet", they were not enumerated on this Census. I recently saw an entry of: Daws, Myrtle 18 Saline Co., to Amom B. Garrison, Saline 22 9-6-1915 ( The Amom was probably a typo for "Amos".) Any information on this family will be very appreciated. Thank you and good luck in your searches. Mary Lou
