The People of the State of Illinois
vs.
HARON NEIL, JOHN B. MOORE, HUGH MOORE & ROBERT TAYLOR

State of Illinois, Saline County, of the November Term of the Saline County Circuit Court in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy four, the Grand Jurors chosen selected and sworn in and for the county of Saline and in the name and by the authority of the People of the State of Illinois, upon their oaths present that Haron Neil, John B. Moore, Hugh Moore and Robert Taylor late of the county of Saline and State of Illinois, on to wit:  the first day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy four at and within the said county of Saline did there and then unlawfully wilfully and feloniously make an assault in and upon the person of one Willis Summers and the said Aaron Neal, John B. Moore, Hugh Moore and Robert Taylor a certain shot gun then and there loaded and charged with gun powder and leaden bullets then and there unlawfully feloniously and wilfully did then and there discharged, shot off, at and against and upon the said Willis Summers, and the said Aaron Neal, John B. Moore, Hugh Moore and Robert Taylor with the leaden bullets aforesaid out of the gun aforesaid then and there by force of the gun powder aforesaid by the said Aaron Neal, John B. Moore, Hugh Moore, and Robert Taylor discharged shot off and sent forth as aforesaid the said Willis Summers in and upon the back and head of him the said Willis Summers then and there unlawfully and feloniously did strike penetrate and wound giving to the said Willis Summer then and there with the leaden bullets aforesaid shot sent forth and discharged as aforesaid by the said Aaron Neal, John B. Moore, Hugh Moore and Robert Taylor one mortal wound he the said Willis Summers then and there instantly died and so the jurors aforesaid upon their oaths aforesaid to say that the said Aaron Neal, John B. Moore, Hugh Moore and Robert Taylor the said Willis Summers in manner and form aforesaid then and there unlawfully and feloniously did kill and slay contrary to the form of the statute in such case made and provided and against the peace and dignity of the People of the State of Illinois.--James M.
