The People of the State of Illinois
vs.
ETTA GASAWAY

the Grand Jurors, chosen, selected and sworn, in and for the County of Saline in the name and by the authority of the People of the State of Illinois, upon their oaths present:  That Etta Gasaway, late of said County, on the first day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred (1900) at and within the said County of Saline in the state of Illinois, aforesaid: in and upon one infant child then and there had no name and which said child was then and there in the peace of the said People did then and there unlawfully, willfully and feloniously and of her malice aforethought make an assault and that the said Etta Gasaway, with her hands in and upon the neck and throat of the said infant child did then and there unlawfully, willfully, feloniously and of her malice aforethought squeeze and choke with her hands aforesaid and of which said squeezing and choking as aforesaid the said infant child then and there instantly died, on the day and year last aforesaid at and within the said County and so the Grand Jurors aforesaid upon their oaths aforesaid do say that the said Etta Gasaway the said infant child in manner and form aforesaid on the day and date aforesaid at and within the county aforesaid, unlawfully willfully feloniously and of her malice aforethought did kill and murder contrary to the form of the statute in such cases made and provided and against the peace and dignity of the said People of the State of Illinois.
And the Grand Jurors aforesaid, chosen, selected and sworn in and for the County of Saline aforesaid and in the State of Illinois, upon their oaths aforesaid do further present that Etta Gasaway late of said County of Saline on the first day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred at and within the said County of Saline and state aforesaid in and upon the person of one certain infant child, then and there being which said infant child has no name, did then and unlawfully, willfully and feloniously and of her malice aforethought mash and squeeze and bruise the head of said infant child of which mashing, squeezing and bruising aforesaid it the said infant child then and there died.  And so the Grand Jurors aforesaid, upon their oaths aforesaid do say that the said Etta Gasaway in manner and form aforesaid on the day and year aforesaid at and within the said aforesaid unlawfully, willfully and feloniously and with her malice aforethought did kill and murder the said infant child.
